Water meters in Hampshire

posted 27 Jul 2011, 09:26 by Blackwater & Hawley NHW   [ updated 27 Jul 2011, 09:34 ]
From Summer 2011 South East Water is introducing a programme of fitting compulsory water meters to all households in their supply area. In Hampshire this will affect households in:

Basingstoke
Alton
Petersfield
Farnborough
Aldershot and surrounding areas.

All other parts of Hampshire are served by Southern Water (who will be carrying out a similar programme in the future). South East Water will install 200,000 meters over the next 5 years to the 45% of households who currently do not have one. All householders will receive a letter explaining when their particular change will be taking place. Occasionally some work will need to be carried out in the householders garden or within the home. Any damage caused will be made good without charge to the householder. There will never be an occasion to ask the householder for any money on a visit. If, on rare occasions additional work needs to be carried out (e.g. a water leak is discovered on the householders property, any charge will be levied through future billing).
