THE next Crime Reduction and Environment Week from the Safer Hart Partnership is to be held in the Blackwater  area (July 25-31).

Members of the Partnership and other organisations will be working together to tackle issues such as fly tipping, graffiti and underage drinking.

The police will be holding a surgery on Tuesday July 26 from 1-2pm in Bell Lane, Blackwater.

That evening there will be a public meeting in the Darby Green Centre (8pm) where representatives of the police, Hart Community Safety and the youth service will be ready to discuss local issues and concerns.

Local schools will be taking part in a photography and poster competition. Local residents will also be able nominate properties in Blackwater for best kept property competitions and other environmental improvements.

A graffiti team will be operating in the area and local residents are urged to report any graffiti to Safer Hart.

Cllr Nippy Singh, Hart’s Cabinet member for Community Safety, commented:”These CREW  events are well established, having been run in Hart for years. The week enables agencies to focus on tackling the challenges in our communities and dealing with issues at a grass roots level.”
